The New Tennants

At dinner, I met the new tenants of Saint Famille. It's definitely going to be an interesting new month.

Sister MJ laughed that now that Gina and Don were gone and there were no more americans to tempt me, I would have to speak french all the time. Though she was very happy that Raymond and I are getting along ("why are there wars when you get along so well". Cute!), I think she's a little worried about a culture clash.

Let's see, among the new suspects:

* Raymond- whom we've already met. He's kinda funny and has just discovered that the French have the utmost comtempt for his Crocs. I didn't have the heart to tell him that it wasn't only the french.

* Sandy- Also from Hong Kong. Raymond knows her slightly through friends.

* Susana- From Madrid and very perky. She's a radio journalist and lied to her boss about her french skills so she could come to Paris for the month. She basically spends all morning reading the papers and then hitting the dictionary to translate the news and send to the station. She wears lots of outfits, like sometimes with matching hair bows and stuff.

* Sofia- From Greece. Totally adorable and in Paris for 6 years to study medicine. She's looking for her own apartment since the nuns cramp her style, and is worried that she's gained too much weight because of all the bread and butter in france. No that that stops her from eating. I like this girl.

* Cecilia- Oddly-shaped, but very engaging Italian from Boulogna. She's studying to be an interpreter.

And the Japanese, of which the most notable so far are:

* Miho- Like Gina described, it's impossible to say anything without her starting to giggle.

* Mikiko- Carries a tiny Miffy (bunny that's friends with Hello Kitty) bag with tiny little tupperware containers to pack dinner food to eat later in her room while she drinks beer.

* Mikki- Organizer of the Japanese contingent.

They're all very nice, although sitting for dinner with the japanese has been a little akward, what with all the politeness, bowing, and everyone trying to serve each other. They're also a little freaked out by the size of the chese and the desserts. Should be interesting.
