Eiffel Tower- This Time From the Inside

After class in Montmartre, I went to the Conde dorm where we were having a going away party (a little early since we still had a few days of class and finals). Lots of food, some awards, and a slide show. The usual.

Since it was Sunny's last weekend, we skipped out kinda early and went to the Eiffel Tower per her request. We were joined by Irina, her boyfriend Jason, her stuffed pig, and Leslie.

They didn't feel like climbing the stairs, so we waited the 45 minutes to get our tickets for the 2nd floor elevator. In line, Irina met a mexican family that carried their own hot sauce with them, which they offered to let us taste. It was a nice gesture, but it was an emphatic no for me.

We made it up to the second floor and got in line, again, to get tickets for the third floor lift. We enjoyed some lovely views while we waited the hour-and-a-half for the second elevator, though nobody offered us condiments this time around.

By the time we made it up to the top level, the sun was going down, and the city looked beautiful. the vieweing areas are really small at the top, so we had to jockey for position against all the other tourists. The tower people also had a nice business selling 10E glasses of champagne. Sunny considered it, but common sense got the better of her.

A little bit after we got tothe top, they turned on the blue lights, and we could see all the flashes going off in the Trocadero from people taking pictures from across the river.

We hung out for about an hour and then queued back to get to the second floor elevator, where we had a quite lenghty pit stop while veeryone went to the bathroom. We took the steps down and out and headed to the metro.

Irina suggested that we all go to EuroDisney the next day. We politely nixed that horrible idea (I mean, at least Parc Asterix!) and made plans to meet the next day and go to Versailles instead.

Don, bored from waiting 30 minutes for people to finish using the restrooms.
